Keeping your real estate sanity during the holidays

While I love Thanksgiving, I find the gift giving and decorating aspects of Christmas time consuming and stressful.

My home isn't for sale and I have the luxury of leaving in the morning with dirty dishes in the sink and unmade beds.  For those of you with your home on the market, keep in mind that there are fewer lookiloos this time of year.  Each showing should be more meaningful.

Try to keep up with your morning routine of having your home in near show condition so that you can accommodate those last minute showings.  If needed ask your Realtor for additional notice for showings.  Were you requesting two hours notice before each showing and now with the added burden of the holidays, need a bit more time?  Perhaps this time of year, you might require 24 hour notice for showings.  Discuss what works for you and your family.

Keep your holiday decor to a minimum, no oversized Christmas trees. Over the top holiday collections are distracting.  Remember you are selling your home, not your Christmas decor and collections.
