Are we all real estate voyeurs?

I recently sold a home and a month after my client moved out of state, she emailed me that her brother had found extremely detailed information online at blockshopper.com.  The site listed her name, the buyer’s name, profession and how much the home sold for.

Of course you can refer to Zillow or Realtor.com and a variety of real estate web sites to gain a lot of detailed information regarding a property listing.  But is it crossing the line, when a website offers more personal information about the buyer and the seller?  What do you think?

Once property sale documents are recorded

websites are publishing that information, my thinking is more power to them.

I agree with Aram, once the sale of the property has been recorded, it can be visible to anyone, indeed.

I don't feel comfortable with names and professions being posted online. Why would that information be useful to the general public? Sales price, tax info., days on market, if it was taken off and relisted... all useful to those looking to buy or sell in the area, appraisers, etc. They don't need someone's name or profession. Too personal.

Of course it is of public record...but I long for the good ol' days that there was SOME privacy in this world!
