Real Estate Peeve
I love architecture and appreciate the interesting homes I sell. As a real estate agent, I see many homes, some delightful and some bordering on hideous. Several days ago, I viewed a character Spanish where the owner had redone the fireplace. It was in keeping with the character of the home and you couldn't tell it was a redo.
Other than poor additions, my two biggest dislikes in homes:
1) Pot bellied stoves
2) Spiral staircases
Personally, I think they look and feel cheap. What’s your real estate pet peeve?

1. Interior Marble tile on the front porch.
2. Columns installed that are not remiscent of the architecture of the home.
3. Someone who tries to make a California Bungalow look like the fountains of Bellagio in Vegas.
4. Anything that looks like it could be a set on the movie “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”.
5. Larger arched wood windows that have been downsized to a smaller square Home-Cheapo (Home Depot) window.
6. Concrete balustrades installed on the front porch that are out of proportion to the existing house.
7. Leather couches on the front porch with an ashtray on a cheap IKEA coffee table.
8. Painting the entire exterior of a house, trim and all, white or salmon color.
9. Planting large lions or statues in white in the front lawn.
10. Any mail box on a stand that looks Victorian in front of a Glendale character home.
11. Changing out wood windows for cheap looking vinyl or aluminum windows.
12. Any home that actually looks like a wedding cake. You know, columns on top of columns, on top of columns?
13. Installing an oak double door with hideous fake leaded glass where a single door used to be.
14. Queen Palms.
