Splish Splash

It's summer, it's hot and I am fixated on swimming pools.

When George and I purchased our La Canada home we knew we wanted a pool.  Once we had the money saved, the decision was what type of pool.  Although, we have a Georgian Colonial home and a formal pool would have fit right in, it didn’t seem to mesh with our casual lifestyle.  We decided on a rock pool; a very large one.  It is big enough for our daughters, their friends and rafts.

It is very difficult to have a solar cover for a free form pool, but I love the look of our pool. We live in a neighborhood with mature trees and we have to trim the trees each year or even during the hottest days of summer our black bottom pool won’t warm.  I love the coolness of the water on a hot summer day.

Several years ago, we converted our pool to salt water and we love the feel of it.  Apparently the latest news in swimming pools is natural pools.  I haven’t seen one yet and don’t know that they are prevalent in Southern California but you can learn more about them here:

Your pool is gorgeous. I have clients looking for a house with a pool or are willing to put in a pool. Who did your pool? Thanks

Thank you, actually I would not recommend him, some of the "rocks" broke a couple of years later and I had to pay to fix them. Had problems with the jacuzzi as well.  All is good now.
