How does the Golden Rule apply to real estate?
Buying or selling a home is stressful, very stressful. During the rollercoaster ride of the escrow process and all that it entails buyers and seller are at their maximum stress level.
But when the buyer and seller are cordial during escrow it works better for both parties. I recently closed escrow on a La Canada home and although the seller completed the post office’s change of address, her mail continues to be sent to her former residence. During escrow, both buyer and seller practiced the “golden rule”: do to others what you would have them do to you. As both buyer and seller were considerate of the other’s needs and emotions we had a very smooth transaction.
So while the former homeowner files yet one more change of address with the post office, she continues to pick up mail from the buyer who considerately sets it aside for her.
