The world's longest escrow

Well I don't know if the Guiness book of World Records keeps track, but yesterday Lisa and I closed on what I  felt was the world's longest escrow.  And no, it was not a short sale.

I have been selling real estate in the Foothill neighborhoods of Los Angeles for twenty years and this Tujunga home shack took forever ten months to close escrow. The sale was a probate and required court confirmation (read more about the probate process here).

Lisa and I opened escrow in July 2010.  Part of the delay was that there were more than ten heirs and there were legal issues battles.

So the specs on the home/shack: lot just under 4,000 - located just North of Foothill on a nice block in Tujunga, sold for $90,000.  The buyer a local developer will build a home and I feel certain the neighbors will be delighted that they don't have to wake up looking at this every day.

Hard to believe but the interior was worse than the exterior.

Holy Cow - I'm not sure which part of this story shocks me the most!! Ten heirs, ten month escrow, or $90,000 for a "fixer" in L.A.!! "Oh, how the mighty have fallen".

You may have a book deal with this story.

I got a kick out of the title of the next post: "Learn what happens at Los Angeles probate court".

Another book, I'm sure. In my experience, probates are like fingerprints - no two are alike.

Good job sticking with this one!
