Why I fired my gardener

Most homeowners take pride in their home and curb appeal is important even when you’re not considering a home sale.

We have had the same gardener for nearly five years and I like him.  He is great at start up; has a good eye, but is not good with maintenance.  I don’t have the time (or the inclination) to follow him around and tell him how to do his job.

He was hired to come the same day as my cleaning lady.  Then for some reason he started arriving on a different day.  I prefer to have the cleaning lady bring the dog in the house when the gardener is here. Repeatedly, I have unsuccessfully asked him to come on the day we initially agreed upon.  For months I have had a problem with snails eating my lemon and lime trees, for months I have asked him to plant some lettuce… no luck here either. And we won’t even discuss the weeds….

I don’t believe I am too demanding.  We are paying $400 a month and I feel that amount warrants more than “mow and blow’ service. So George fired our gardener.  The new one is the one who does the landscape for my listing at 5354 Ocean View, La Canada and their landscape (and home) are pristine.
