68% of home buyers find the loan process no more difficult than expected

Whether representing the home buyer or seller, I try to have a good relationship with the mortgage lender.  Obviously the lender plays a key part in the escrow process.  A good lender, returns phone calls, meets deadlines and is proactive.  A poor lender, does not return phone calls, does not provide status updates, and generally doesn’t do anything until reminded to do so.

When I represent the buyer, I can make suggestions as to which lenders offer competitive rates and excellent service. But when representing the seller it is not as easy.  It’s no secret that mortgage lenders have become stricter and frankly more difficult to deal with.  If you have recently purchased real estate or refinanced you can attest to that fact.

Shockingly, only 32% of recently surveyed home buyers indicated that the loan process was more difficult than expected.  I attribute that to their real estate agent being on the ball.
