How long should a buyer expect to remain in their home?
Years ago it was said to be that the average California homeowner moved every seven years. George & I have been in our present home for sixteen years and have no plans to sell in the near future.

It’s encouraging to find that ten years is the median length of time that the average homeowner expects to remain in their home. But, it is disconcerting to note that 21% of first time home buyers anticipate being in their home for five years or less. As our current real estate market offers no certainty that prices will increase markedly in the near future, I have been counseling clients that they should purchase a home they love; one that is comfortable and large enough where they will be happy for the next (at least) five to even ten years.
