LA Foothill’s Station Fire, Last call to file a soot and ash claim

Station fire, soot and ash insurance claim If you own property in the Foothills, don’t think there was just dirt at your house and it is foolish to file a claim.  It was much more than that.  From a real estate agent’s perspective, you should be aware that when you sell your home, the buyer’s inspector will note:  “that your attic insulation is damaged”, “your air ducts need to be cleaned” and a lot more.

I recently had my home power washed and the rain gutters cleaned; I was shocked by the amount of soot flushed from the gutters, it was unbelievable.  If you haven’t had your gutters cleaned, have it done before the fall; if they are clogged it could result in damage to your roof.   I hired Steve’s Windows  to clean the windows, power wash the house and clean the gutters.

The process for filing a soot and ash claim is simple:

1)      Call your insurance carrier and ask for an inspector

2)      When the inspector arrives, be certain he checks your attic insulation and air ducts

3)      Inform your inspector of any cash outlays for cleaning you may have done (upholstery, curtains, power washing, pool filters, etc.)

Our Foothill neighborhoods
were declared a disaster area and as such your carrier can not raise your premium for filing this claim. The one year statute of limitations is looming, call your insurance carrier today.
