Top Annual Home Maintenance Tips

Just like a relationship, home maintenance is on-going and there are certain aspects of a home which shouldn't be left unattended for too long.

Clean the Gutters

Why: I recently had a client move out of the country and is leasing his home.  His lot is studded with pine trees; the needles clogged his gutters, which overflowed onto the roof during the heavy rains. Water ponded and the roof leaked.
How: Personally, I contact Steve’s Windows once a year, they do an amazing job washing my windows and I have them clean the gutters at the same time.
When: Annually

Have your home inspected for termites
Why:  Southern California is a hotbed of termite activity.  If the infestation goes untreated for too long, an expensive fumigation may be necessary.
How: I contact Tri-Pacific Termite Company, mention my name and they will offer Los Angeles homeowners a complimentary inspection.

Tune Up Your Central Air Conditioning System
Why: A tune-up will prolong the life .
When: You’ll have an easier time getting an appointment a few months before it gets too warm.  Costs are typically higher when you contact an air conditioning contractor in the summer (the same time as everyone else).

Have Your Heating System Serviced
same as above, call during the off season
