For security reasons, Lisa and I generally hold houses open together.  Last month, we were both at an open house and my cell phone died. It would not take a charge, not from the plug in or the car charger.  I was in the midst of counter offer negotiations and I was frantic.

Fortunately Lisa was there and I was able to use her cell phone to wrap up my buyer’s counter offer. After the open house, I stopped by my friendly AT&T store to find out if they could get my battery to charge: “no”, they also didn’t sell batteries and weren’t any help.  I later phoned customer service but they couldn’t supply me with a battery – it was an old phone. 

I decided that now was as good a time as any to upgrade. I selected the new I-phone, ordered it online and received it last Friday.  Lisa showed me how to update my contacts.  I have learned how to make and receive phone calls and text. 

A little background: I started in the banking business in the late 70’s, when computers were so large they took over the entire fourth floor of the One Wilshire Building, downtown Los Angeles. I was in charge of monthly reports to the Federal Home Loan Bank Board; I never could get the grasp of the antiquated computer or the reports and the bank was later acquired by Great American Savings.  But why blame me?  I never told anyone I could do those reports…but that is a different story.
