Real Estate’s dirty little secret

Home buyers, it really does make a difference which real estate agent you hire to represent you.  In a multiple offer situation, all things being fairly equal, the seller’s agent will strongly encourage the home seller to accept the offer from the proven real estate professional.  One the seller's agent knows, or knows of, or who has appreciated her professionalism in the contract negotiations.

If you want to hire your brother, who has a real estate license but doesn’t really sell real estate, in this competitive situation you might have a very distinct disadvantage. In the past, I have even sometimes been provided with the opportunity to better my clients offer in order to be the highest.  Is this fair? I think so.  Who do you think will provide the seller with a smoother transaction?  A one deal a year Realtor or someone who is a full time real estate agent?
