Five ways to make your home more inviting

My blog is not just about buying and selling real estate, it's also about enjoying your Los Angeles home.  Make your home more inviting for you, your family and your guests:

1) Lighting: Be it natural, electrical or candles, a well lit home is inviting.

2) Simplicity: Tone down the clutter, (too many patterns and prints are clutter as well).

3) Smell: Eliminate stale food odors.  We have roses in our garden. If you don’t have any flowers in your yard, plant some!  A bouquet or two of fragrant flowers are a lovely addition to any room.

4) In the winter, there is nothing more inviting than a fire in the fireplace.  We cut trees every other year and have the wood quartered for firewood. Don’t store it too close to the home or garage or it will cause termites.

5) Quiet: Turn off the television and enjoy your family and guests.

My problem area continues to be the clutter.  What’s your weakness?
