Is becoming better organized on your New Year's wish list?
I was dog walking this weekend with a friend and we discussed New Year’s resolutions. Our consensus was “why wait for a new year in order to make a change? If you want to make a change, just do it”.
The benefit of organization is to make life less chaotic. I enjoy this site while there you can sign up for Lorie’s free newsletter. For those of you ready to get organized, here’s a month’s worth of tips.
Here are some of my favorites from Lorie’s list:
1. Set up one place in your home office area where all bills go once they are opened. I implemented this last year and I no longer lose bills, I file them all in one orange folder and review weekly.
2. Start a family binder to hold school reference papers, contact information. I didn’t compile a family binder, but made one for household repairs.
3. Put an emergency $20 bill in your car along with extra business cards & coins for meters. I keep a roll of quarters in my car – saves me lots of money in valet fees.
4. Make a double-batch of muffins or pancakes and freeze for a busy weekday.
5. Keep a running list of repairs needed. Store in your family binder. I don’t store in my binder but keep a running list on my computer.
