Real Estate is all about relationships

In a real estate transaction, there is a buyer and a seller, typically with each having their own Realtor.  Buying or selling a home is a very emotional experience and there are a lot of personalties involved.   The escrow process is not a straight path and sometimes the road is bumpier than planned.  Each escrow has a hiccup; a problem with the inspection, a delay in loan approval,  or some other unplanned event.   But how the Realtor handles the hiccup, separates the amateurs from the professionals.

Lisa and I have been showing homes to a delightful couple; one which they particularly liked, sold before we could write an offer. But because I had a previous transaction with that seller’s agent, he called me. The current transaction is shaky… if it falls out of escrow he would prefer to be in escrow with a professional.  He has elected not to contact each showing agent only me… Because I was professional in our previous escrow.

Sometimes in escrow I want to scream… But I don’t, and this is the payback: the relationship.
