Learn how to obtain a free credit report
Always timely, Floyd Walters’ Mortgage Facts:
"Fact #1: By Federal Law, you are entitled to get a free copy of your credit report once every twelve months. You are entitled to get a free copy from each of the three major credit bureaus, Equifax, Experian and Trans Union!
Fact #2: It is easy to get your free copy. All you have to do is go to annualcreditreport.com and follow the simple instructions. I did it myself this morning and it took all of 15 minutes to get all three bureaus, for free!!
Fact #3: If you want to be able to check your credit more than once a year you can get one of the three bureaus now, another in 4 months and another 4 months later. How about that for working the system!
Fact #4: The web site will make you all kinds of offers (some of them may fit your needs) but you are not obligated to purchase any supplements. Keep in mind if you do, for example, purchase a credit score that the score you purchase may not be a true FICO. The credit bureaus like to sell their own version of a credit score (we like to call it a FAKO not a FICO) but mortgage lenders only consider a real FICO score when qualifying you."
