Title Insurance Discounts to senior citizens are now illegal.

This week I had several listing appointments; on one of the properties I needed to review permits prior to establishing a value.  My title representative can no longer supply me with permits so Natalie trecked down to the city to pick up the permits. Another appointment was with a senior; previously title companies were providing a 10-20% discount for senior citizens.   Title companies can no longer provide a senior discount – it’s against the law!  I double checked with the escrow company and they and the termite company continue to provide my senior clients with discounts.



Not allowing senior discounts is absurd.  It seems that our elected representatives and the insurance commissioner should be notified that voters are unhappy with these stupid laws.  I am sure the title company loves a law that states they can’t provide a discount to anyone. Call the commissioner’s hotline 1-800-927-HELP and inform them that title insurance discounts to senior citizens should not be illegal.
