Take this loan and shove it

This is a growing refrain from home buyers across the United States.  I previously was in the mortgage banking business and held a variety of positions including loan underwriter, the one who approved or rejected the loan.  Early on, I had a brilliant boss who explained to me that “we don’t make money turning down loans… anyone can turn down loans but the mark of a good underwriter is one who looks for compensating factors to make the loan work”.  When I approved loans it was done manually, no computer modules… we pieced the puzzle together.

Home buyers take a breath, and remember you are asking the bank for money… a lot of money and you have to supply the information they request.  There is no point in getting upset or fighting; it is just the reality of today. They are scared… seems like they should have been scared a couple of years ago…. But no, they are scared today, go figure. But it is what it is. Let’s just deal with it. The pendulum will swing back it always does.
