More on the Appraisal Home Valuation Code of Conduct

They don’t want good appraisers

As a Los Angeles real estate agent, when I represent the home seller, I often meet the appraiser at my client’s home.  I typically provide him/her with comps (if I help him with his job, mine is easier).  Under the new “Code” if an appraiser is late, rude, tracks dirt though my client’s home, eyes my client’s 16 year old daughter… what do I do?  If it were last month, I would contact the lender and the lender might scratch the appraiser from their list (or make a mental note of what I told them and then if they hear it a second time delete the appraiser from the list).

I am still waiting for The Code's repercussions; each transaction entering escrow needs to be reevaluated because of The Code.  As a real estate agent representing buyers or sellers, “The Code” will have an impact on most of my client’s closings.
