Los Angeles home buyer’s dilemma

Perhaps you are wishing for a home in a great school district.  3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a nice back yard, room for a home office, and you don’t want to be located on a busy street. Where do you go?  After the down payment, you won’t have money remaining for repairs.  A decent kitchen, a master suite… is it too much to wish for?
