Mid Century Remodeling Dilemma

Do you recall my post regarding my listing on Pasadena’s coveted Orange Grove?  Our decorator/home stager, Charis has made the Dunn Edwards color selections:

All Ceilings: Cool December (flat)
Cabinets, Trim & Living Room Brick: Cool December (Eggshell Finish)
Walls (except powder room): Milk Glass
Powder Room Walls & Kitchen Cabinets: Green Tea (Eggshell Finish)

The cottage cheese masking will be finished tomorrow (one day late due to cold weather impacting the drying).  We removed the paneling on the living room wall to expose the brick and we had a nasty surprise:  the brick is missing in one area.

On the other side of the missing brick is a bar in the kitchen; perhaps at one time it was a pass-through.  We asked Parkstone Construction to provide us with an estimate to fill the brick. If the cost is prohibitive, we may need to remove the wood and add glass shelves.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that we can come up with an affordable fix and get this condo back on the market and sold.  But doesn't the brick wall and smooth ceiling look better?  Just wait until the painting and hardwood floors are finished!

I convinced my client to take it off the market and spruce it open prior to relisting. We removed the paneling from the living room wall to expose the beautiful mid-century brick and found we were missing brick in one area. My fireplace guru, was busy repairing fireplaces. I substituted Fralix Construction and they did a wonderful job at a very competitive price. Kevin Nardoni has patched the ...
