Housing, what's hot, what's not?
I continue to reiterate that real estate is regional; real estate in Los Angeles is different than the Inland Empire or Las Vegas. According to the National Association of Realtor’s blog the following home fads are falling out of favor :
1. Fireplaces - I disagree, even with our warm California climate, most home buyers still tell me that a fireplace is high on their wish list.
2. Carpet - I agree, most home buyers express a preference for hardwood floors.
3. Living room - An elegant living room, although seldom utilized, continues to be desired by home buyers purchasing more expensive homes.
4. Desks in the kitchen - I tend to agree, more people express a desire for an office alcove or designated room.
5. Skylights - Not certain about this one; we have a lot of vintage homes and a good supply of mid-century. Most home buyers prefer a lot of natural light; what are your thoughts?
6. Upscale kitchen finishes - I disagree; kitchens are extremely important to home buyers.
What is on your “must have” list?

I find it hard to believe that fireplaces are not high on the list, I wouldn't own a house without one. And my "perfect" home would need an island in the kitchen. My husbands big must have is RV access.
