Remodeling? Think green for resale

Your home is an investment, and with any investment, you want the highest return when you sell.  Remodeling a kitchen or building a new home, think green. It is not only good for the environment, but green homes are becoming more admired which will equate to more selling dollars at time of resale.

Even if your city does not currently require sorting cans vs. bottles, you want be ensure that your new kitchen is not outdated after several years. So plan on four storage areas:

*Metals, *Glass, * Paper, *Compost (food scraps for garden), Composting runs the gamut from complex to an empty coffee can under the sink to collect grinds, vegetable peels, etc.

Excellent advice, we actually have numerous stackable bins out in the garage so that we can sort our recycling. I am the first to admit that it takes a fair amount of time, but when you consider the good that it does for the environment its well worth it.

We also just last year changed out all of our standard lighting with the more efficient alternatives, the savings on our utility bills has been amazing. I would say that we made back our cost of replacements in the first few months.

BTW, I really like your blog, what software is this, I don't think it is wordpress is it?

Great tips again, Phyllis. Buyers are looking for more "green" properties that go beyond changing light bulbs.
