Glendale's Brand Park, a great hike
Prior to marrying George, I lived on Irving near Brand Park. I had two German Shepherds, Duchess and Panda Bear who loved hiking in Brand Park.
I haven’t been on the Brand Park hike in over a decade but last week; I woke early and decided to take two of the three dogs (papillion and shepherd – Chihuahua usually gets left behind) up the hill behind the Doctor’s House. Although, it wasn’t quite 8 AM, there were quite a few people with the same idea, and many with dogs.
I was hoping my dogs could get “off leash” for awhile. We made a left at the Brand Family Cemetery and hiked a bit more. It was quiet with no one in sight and the dogs did get their off leash romp. I was a bit disappointed that the there wasn’t water in the stream yet, but there is a drinking fountain that dogs can use down the hill near the Japanese Tea House.
I think I will try again in a couple more months, after some rain, it’s lovely when the stream is rushing or at least trickling.
