Los Angeles, the movie capital of the world
Enough about real estate! Angelenos live in the movie capital of the world – let’s talk movies, money and investing. It’s no secret that until several years ago, I and most Los Angeles Realtors earned a great living. However, during this boom, I had several stretches where I worked more than one month straight; I feel that I earned my compensation. My husband is a stock market kind of guy but I prefer to invest in people. Looks as if I may have been right.
Not too long ago, a good friend approached me about investing in a film he was going to make. Thinking it could be fun, I gathered the information, read all the projections, familiarized myself with the risks, and in the end... I invested. I'm posting here because the filmmakers still need more investors to finish out the movie.
While I might have been a little apprehensive about posting in the beginning, I am much more comfortable now because the film has been shot. This makes the investment far less risky as opposed to investing in a project that might never get off the ground or fall apart while shooting (as sometimes happens). All that is left is the final editing, sound design and music. In my opinion, the movie looks incredible - while the final budget will be under a million dollars, the production value, cast and cinematography make the movie look like a project filmed for between 15-20 million dollars. The cast is amazing -- for any size film -- but especially one with a total budget of less than one million dollars: Academy Award-winner Mira Sorvino, Shane West (star of A Walk to Remember and ER), Justin Kirk (Weeds, Golden Globe nominee for Angels in America), and Tony Curran (Braveheart, Flight of the Phoenix).
If anyone is interested in how they can become a part of the Presence let me know and I'll put you in contact with my friend.
