Glendale’s Whiting Wood's Lautner sees another reduction

Originally offered at $1,958,000,Lautner's Schaffer Residence has been reduced to $1,573,000.  Listing Agent, Crosby Doe notes:   “The Schaffer Residence, 1949, by internationally recognized architect John Lautner, has been meticulously restored, and is now presented in pristine condition. Here is one of Lautner's rare early masterworks hidden in an oak grove at the foot of the Verdugo Mountains. A world apart, and yet just 15 minutes to downtown L.A., and even closer to the Burbank Studios.”

So, why are both Foothill Lautners slow to sell?  In my opinion, both are amazing, but in this price range home buyers are purchasing square footage.  Both Lautner homes make the most of space and the California lifestyle of indoor/outdoor living, but both are under 2000 square feet.  Perhaps our current economic situation will put square footage back in perspective; in the meantime now is a great time to be in the housing market for a Lautner.
