The communities of Pasadena, Altadena, Eagle Rock and Glendale have many vintage homes with exquisite architectural details.  Coffered ceilings are designed with square or polygonal panels. 
The ceilings are quite detailed and are generally only found in higher end homes. Although currently becoming popular in kitchens of newer luxury homes, this type of ceiling was originally most frequently found in smaller rooms such as libraries or dens.
