Los Angeles: The cupcake wars
Enough Los Angeles gloom and doom:
Only in LaLa land… “Sprinkles, the chain that started in 2005 and became a favorite of Oprah Winfrey and Paris Hilton, is suing Famous Cupcakes in West Hollywood. Sprinkles claims Famous Cupcakes is stealing its "modern dot" trademark, that circle-on-a-circle, color-coded piece of candy that tops every Sprinkles cupcake and helps distinguish a Red Velvet, say, from a Chai Latte.’

With so many choices I have yet to taste West Hollywood’s Famous Cupcakes. My favorite cupcake is found at Sprinkles in Beverly Hills. My second choice is Burbank’s Yummy Cupcakes and a very close third is Aunty Em’s in Eagle Rock. There are a variety of flavors, my friend Irene’s favorite is the red velvet. The prices are all in the $3.00 range per (giant) cupcake. How bad can our Los Angeles economy be? Enough people are keeping these stores in business.

The chef at Auntie Em's was showcased on Food TV yesterday in a cupcake throw-down by Bobby Flay! Bobby won the challenge but Auntie Em's cupcake looked pretty yummy!
