There are numerous golf courses throughout Los Angeles, both public and private.  Below are a few of the private clubs in my favorite neighborhoods.

La Cañada Flintridge Country Club
18 hole, par 70 championship golf course.  Membership is affordable and starts in the $3,000 range. 

Although there are homes overlooking the golf course, none are currently listed for sale; at present there is an updated 3 & 3 townhome with golf course views available for $888,000.

Glendale Chevy Chase Canyon
As a Glendale teen, we used to hop the fence and swim in their pool during the hot summer nights.  I have fond memories of this club. There are 10 greens and 36 tees to form a 5200 yard 18 hole, par 67 course with a rating of 66.1. The golf membership of $5,000 is presently being waived – perhaps for the next year.  Now seems like a great time to join this club. 

Although there is a great sampling of homes available in the canyon, I couldn't find one in the MLS with a golf course view.  Homes in the Canyon generally range from $650,000 and up.

Glendale’s largest private golf course is Oakmont Country Club. Membership is approximately $40,000

This character home is within walking distance to the golf course, and offers 4 & 3 with pool for $999,000.

Toluca Lake/Burbank’s Lakeside Golf Club
This club offers a vibrant history and is renown for its celebrity members. This course is tucked away and the grounds overlook the six acre lake. Cost: $80,000 to join; requires member sponsors.

“Tales were told of the elusive Greta Garbo being sighted through hedges and a tipsy W. C. Fields battling swans while rowing from his rented quarters across the lake to the country club for his daily round of golf. Bing Crosby, who built a house at 4326 Forman Avenue, reigned for years as the Lakeside champion. He used to joke that Fields sat in his arbor by the lake sipping bourbon and practicing his comedy and juggling routines."

Forget the golf course view and go for Lake Front - Only 33 homes on the (Toluca) Lake - this one has always been my favorite.  Custom built in 2000 with no expense spared, it is lakefront with views of Lakeside Golf club.  MLS STATS: 6 & 7, 5600+ sq ft, 6 car garage, wine cellar, gym, infinity pool- it has everything. $6,650,000

Pasadena’s Annandale Golf Club was established in 1906 by several prominent members of the Pasadena community, including Henry Huntington, the famed railroad magnate and philanthropist, and George Patton Sr., father of the famous American general. The private club has a storied history and included many famous families such as the Gambles, Kelloggs and Weyerhaeusers who sought the mild climate of Southern California in the early 1900s as a retreat from the cold winters of the Midwest and Northwest. Paul Runyon, two-time winner of the PGA Championship and member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, was the club pro in the 1950s and member of the club at the time of his death in 2000.   Cost: Golf (family membership) $85,000 to join; requires member sponsors. 



MLS Stats: 4 & 5, over 4000 sq ft on 30,000+ lot overlooking the Annandale Golf Course. Listed at $2,500,000 but this one has been on the market for 10 months, and may have some "wiggle room".
