Los Angeles Equestrian Homes

Horse lovers seeking a home, have a vast array of Los Angeles properties to select from.  Let’s look at a few of my favorite equestrian communities:

Glendale’s Rancho Neighborhood - Griffith Park Adjacent. At present only one horse property is listed in the Multiple Listing Service; On Raymond, near Victory Blvd. (the preferred horse area is nearer or on Riverside Drive). This home is listed at $699,999 and has been on the market for nearly a year.  It is unfortunate that the second Realtor the seller selected couldn’t bother to take photos of the house, stable or tack room.  MLS Stats: 2424 sq ft, 4 & 3, 10,184 sq ft lot.

La Canada is a more rural community and offers extensive riding trails. For those who prefer not to have their horse on site, there is always Flintridge Riding Club. There are a handful of available horse properties, I selected my favorites listed in the MLS: 

5 & 3 ranch style on a 28,000+ sq ft lot priced at $1,875,000

4 + 3 + pool, traditional in the canyon on a 40,000+ sq ft lot (reduced again) listed at $2,399,000. This is an equestrian value if you don't require massive interior square footage; the home is approximately 3000+ sq ft. with great access to Cherry Canyon horse trail.

Shadow Hills
is “horse heaven”, a community where it is not uncommon to see people riding their horse to the market - bet they are saving a lot on gas! There is always a great selection available here;  I selected a few of my favorites:

Tiny 3 & 2 on ½ acre for $589,000 (barn pictured below)

Shadow Hills Estates Neighborhood: 4 & 3 with pool on a nearly 20,000 sq ft lot, home almost 2700 sq ft priced at $1,149,000

If you are in the market for a working ranch consider Peacock Hill offered at $3,600,000. Sited on nearly 6 ½ acres, the home is  3 + 4 in approximately 2800 sq ft. Unfortunately this property has been on the market for over 3 years…. Apparently Los Angeles doesn’t have much demand for a working ranch with arena, and 100 horse stalls.

Burbank’s Equestrian Neighborhood
- Adjacent to the Burbank Equestrian Center are townhomes with private garages and on site stables.  Although, none are currently available, the units (in the under $500,000 range) frequently come on the market.  

If you are not a townhome type person, there is a 3+ 2 home on a 7,000+ sq ft lot for $699,000.
