Declutter Your Los Angeles Home
The more I advise my clients to declutter their homes prior to “going to market”, the more disgusted I become with my own mess. I have been on a mission to get rid of “stuff”.
In my closet, were thousands of dollars (yes, thousands of dollars) worth of St. John Knits, which I have not worn in years – YEARS! I finally donated them to the Glendale YWCA and I felt good about it. Women in need (typically abused) come to the YW and get their life back in order; perhaps they will wear my clothes on a job interview. I finally have room in my closet and can see/find the clothes that I have (and I wear the same items all of the time anyway - don’t you?). I purchased closet tag organizers; and have tagged my closet; my cleaning lady can now return the clean clothes to their rightful place.
I have the nasty habit of removing all of the (small) toiletries from hotel rooms; I have been doing this for years – I can’t stop myself. Two and a half years ago my aunt and I bagged an assortment of items and tied a ribbon around each bag; we prepared about 60 complete (shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc) sets. I brought them to a retirement home at Christmas time. But it’s been awhile and I have been accumulating again, (is this obsessive compulsive???). I purchased several of the clear over the door shoe organizers. One I hung in the linen closet, near the guest bedroom and have stuffed the toiletries in the shoe cubbies.
And another shoe bag for aspirin, cough syrup, etc. (another closet door).
And my "gift wrap closet" since I don't have a gift wrap room.
Works for me – Happy 4th of July – enjoy your day!
