LA County automatically reducing property taxes?

Around the Southland, officials are automatically reevaluating homes purchased in recent years, especially at the height of the housing bubble from 2004 to 2007. Perhaps I am jaded, but why would the county automatically reduce property taxes? Why wouldn’t they wait for the homeowner to initiate the reduction? I thought California had a budget crisis? Are they really automatically reducing taxes? I find this so extraordinary!
Anyway, if you want to be more proactive read my previous post to learn how to apply for your Los Angeles County property tax reduction.

Wow are they really doing this. Not here the taxes have gone up over the recent boom in the past and have no plans of going down. This would help the over inflated house values in California but make homeowners crazy for sure less taxes but less value right!

I just have family in Florida and they have a proposed law to reduce taxes pending and will cut them by 20-35 percent with a one percent sales tax increase. I am sure Floridians will welcome this tax break.

From experiences at LA County Tax, I agree that the burden should be placed on the owners rather than the government officials. Why not use peoples' ignorance as an advantage? Plus most people won't even notice.

Thanks for your comment, our tax coffers need as much money as possible, no need to give rebates to those that don't ask for one.
