My offer has been accepted!

I’m in escrow!  My fiancé and I have been renting for years… subject to landlord’s rental increases and any other whim they might have.  I was tired of moving & decided this was going to be my last move for a while.  My fiancé & I started seriously searching for homes several months ago.  Why not? Prices have dropped, rates are low; it seemed like a good time (for us).  Also, after meeting with our accountant we can use the tax break!

We had not been too excited about what was in our price range but realized that we would have to set some of our desires aside in order to stay in our comfort zone (price wise).  After looking for several months, this past month brought many new listings & quite a few that we actually liked!  After much deliberation, we decided to place an offer on the cute little Spanish home we saw about 2 weeks ago.  It is a foreclosure, and there were 7 offers (!!) including ours.  If there is one thing I have learned in selling real estate it is how to write a good offer!

I knew that the home was priced well; I wrote a strong offer, with few contingencies, submitted my prequalification and waited for the seller’s decision! Great news, we got the house… Now I also know enough to know I shouldn’t get too excited prior to the physical inspection; the inspection was Saturday.  And “no my house is not perfect” and I didn’t expect it to be, considering it was built in the 1920s, but it’s structurally sound… and my fiancé & I are excitedly moving forward with the loan process.
