Sleep Before You Buy

Received a call from a friend this morning, she wanted to know if I had seen the Parade Magazine in today’s Los Angeles Times.  Just when I thought I had heard everything! Should a home buyer be allowed to sleep in your home before they buy it? In this Parade article, the buyer wanted to sleep in a beach house prior to purchase…. Hmmm I would like to sleep in a beach house too!

At the very least there should be:

1) An accepted offer with a deposit in escrow
2) Contingency removal of the buyer’s investigation (inspection), these negotiations should definitely be done as they can be exhausting.

Then the home seller may want to consider whether or not the buyer’s loan is approved, if all other contingencies are removed (other than the sleep over)...what about insurance liability?  And then the seller may feel this is an invasion of their privacy.  Seems kind of weird to me.

Glenda, thanks for calling me this morning, I would have missed this one!

What did you think of this article?
