What does a Realtor do this time of year?
Interestingly this time of year can get hectic for a real estate agent; typically there are numerous mailings to be designed, printed and sent.
November – Property Tax Reminder Letter is mailed to all clients that have purchased a home this year. We want to be certain that our clients don’t pay a penalty (due to failure of paying their property taxes on time). We also attempt to explain the supplemental taxes in this mailer. If you “get off on the wrong foot” with the assessor’s office, it is a nightmare to get it straightened out.
I also send Thanksgiving cards to many of my clients. Most Realtors mail calendars to their clients and ours are also mailed in November. Most agents also send some type of Christmas card or holiday greeting. In addition to friends and family members, there are Christmas gifts for clients which are sent out in the beginning of December. And throughout all of this of course we continue to list and sell homes.
Our most time consuming mailer is our Holiday Lights & Events Schedule, this is time sensitive and the dates and events change every year. This mailer takes a lot of preparation.

The first week of January, we mail a copy of the Closing Cost Statement (to clients that bought or sold last year); the Closing Cost Statement is probably the first piece of paper their CPA will ask for. Often, after a move, clients misplace it; we send it out in January so they have it readily available. This mailer can take some time to put together and we try to have it completed prior to January, so that we can start the New Year fresh, without a backlog of work.
