Las Vegas Condos & Foreclosure Stats

Wasn't too long ago that luxury high-rises were popping up in Las Vegas like crazy... I thought that the asking prices were astronomical for property in the "middle of a desert" George Clooney was even on board and his photos was featured in Brat Pack Fashion throughout numerous ads.

According to RealtyTrac, foreclosures in California, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, and Georgia accounted for more than half of the 179,599 filings in July, 2007. For the seventh month in a row, Nevada posted the highest foreclosure rate in the country, with one filing for every 199 households--more than three times the national average of one filing for every 693 homes. Georgia rose from the eighth-worst state for foreclosures to the second-worst, and Michigan climbed from seventh to third place. California, the state with the highest number of foreclosures in the nation in July (39,013), saw foreclosures increase at a slower pace last month, and some states, including Florida (seventh), even saw declines.
